Yeji Kim

Profile

Yeji Kim (*1999, South Korea) is a contemporary painter.

Her work inhabits the boundary between human, animal, and hybrid form, set in still, silent spaces charged with unspoken tension. Rooted in her Korean background, her practice draws on a childhood fascination with monsters and myth as a way into human instinct and the unconscious. Working primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas, Kim builds layered, atmospheric compositions through a slow, deliberate process. Death recurs throughout her work, reimagined not as rupture but as transformation.

She began her studies in Philosophy in South Korea before moving to Germany in 2020 to study painting under Prof. Helen Verhoeven at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (HfBK). Formative periods in London (UK) and Antibes (France) further shaped her artistic development. In 2026, she continued her studies in Paris, where she works in the class of Prof. Bruno Perramant.
